After breakfast, we start our safari journey through the city to the scenic countryside with each mile’s drive revealing Uganda’s true beauty, exposing you to the indigenous people and their way of life. Our first stopover is at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for the 2-hour Rhino tracking activity, to feel the wild as you trek on foot to watch these beautiful animals grazing peacefully in a place they call home. Later continue with the journey to Murchison Falls National Park, tread in the path that Churchill, Ernest Hemingway, and Roosevelt have been. Murchison Falls national park is a magical safari hot spot in the pearl of Africa, with a a good count of wildlife that include the big five, the cats, antelopes, giraffes, elephants and so much more, How about the magnificent Murchison falls, in this park you will feel the spray of the world’s most powerful waterfall. For today, relax and enjoy the serenity of the lodge into your luxury lodge on the Nile River at Paraa Safari Lodge. With our early cup of tea/coffee, start to explore Murchison falls National park with an early morning game drive, the drive will take you through lush plains to search for the dear residents enjoying their natural home, you are like to find lions in the hunting mode or lazily lying or walking by, leopards may be spotted in tree branches as they love to hide as because of their solitary nature, drive by herds of elephants with their swinging trucks and the giraffes with their towering necks feeding from the tree branches, we will come across Jackson’s hartebeests and antelopes alerted by your presence, every moment on this game drive quenches your adventure cravings. That’s it for now, we will return to the lodge for breakfast, as we wait for another episode of the safari. I
In the afternoon we will embark on a launch cruise gliding along the Nile on a private boat cruise past yawning hippos and crocodiles, upstream the bottom of the Mighty falls, the most satisfying part is watching the falls as thy powerfully pour down to the bottom, from a stone’s throw vintage point, hearing the thunderous roar and beholding this live scene is a captivating experience that you can only get in the Murchison falls National Park. The trail is not complete until you ascent to the top of the falls hiking from the safe angle at the bottom of the falls, the same trail Sir Samuel Baker took and hiked through to the top of the falls, the challenge will lead you to the top, where you will see first hand how the mighty Murchison falls are formed; when large sums of the Nile water squeezes into a small gorge to make powerful falls, enjoy misty splashes of the Nile, and take photos that keeps the fresh memories of these nature moments, this will complete our falls adventure and return to the lodge with great experiences and scenery. We embark on the drive after our good breakfast, through Uganda’s lush Albertine Rift to the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and an area with various craters. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge and take a crater hike visiting some of Kyaninga Crater Lake for breathtaking views. We will spend the rest of the time at the lodge. We will have our breakfast, and drive to the park headquarters where all trackers are required to assemble for a briefing about chimpanzee tracking and the etiquette. We will set out into the forest with the ranger to track the Chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, to have an encounter of the intelligent eyes meeting ours, be awed by their intelligence depicted in the way they behave, care for each other, the way they carry themselves, you will find it true that surely these apes are man’s close cousin only living in the wild. You are expected to stay calm and quiet as you spend 1hour enjoying the best moments with the chimpanzees, witnessing life, mothers grooming their tender ones, young ones swinging and so playful, the alpha male leading the troop; a precious secret that the Kibale Forest keeps wild yet pure that keeps calling many just like you. Kibale’s Forest National Park hosts nature’s secret, the chimpanzees and more primates of about 13 species living freely in Uganda’s nature.
Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, renamed after Queen Elizabeth II when she visited the park in 1954. Driving from Kibale to Queen is a journey to great scenery, capturing the views of the mountains of the moon- Rwenzori Mountain, and the great landscapes. We will stop over at the Equator for photography, then head into the park viewing game en route to the Mweya Safari Lodge. The Lodge has scenic views of the plains and the Kazinga Channel linking Lake George and Edward. staying at Mweya Safari Lodge invokes its long history as the same location where Henry Morton Stanley stayed during his expedition. We will have an early tea/coffee and jump into the safari vehicle for a game viewing experience. The park boosts of several wildlife from lions, to elephants, buffaloes, oribi, leopards, a morning game drive is the best way to explore the true African wilderness with the sunrise glimmering over you and the plains of the park, animals starting the day ready to face the circles of life return to the Lode for breakfast and relax and enjoy the beauty of the lodge.
In the afternoon, is another expedition, Boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, we will slope to the mweya peninsular the start of the boat cruise, as you mount the boat, you scribe to an exceptional 2 hours safari marvels as you sail on the Kazinga channel towards lake Edward with views reaching into DR Congo, the cruise will give you a chance to see hippos, elephants and buffaloes at the shores, and some birds that you will spot, not forgetting the great scenery. We will close the day of a great experience where memories of the wild are made. We will stay at the Mweya Safari Lodge for dinner and for the night. FB
Today, we continue to another section of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Ishasha sector, beaming with the presence of the tree-climbing lions. The drive to Ishasha is full of game viewing opportunities, so be on the lookout for any surprises. When we reach Ishasha, look above in the shadows of the fig trees, there you will spot the lying lions high up in the tree branches, catching the cool of the day, unbothered by your presence. These are fulfilling moments seeing the king of the jungle having good times. The day has been already rewarding, it’s time to proceed to the lodge to relax for the rest of the evening taking in the nature’s fresh air and the sense of being in the wild is very rewarding, so we will spend the night at Ishasha Wilderness Lodge, hidden in the wild yet serene environment for your wild experience. Today, no early wakes, we will have breakfast in no rush, and we will casually drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, into the Kingdom of the great apes, dominated by the silverback. Bwindi’s misty, thick forest hosts half the remaining mountain gorillas and is a great destination for anyone who wants to have an encounter with the rare gorillas. Bwindi is the highlight of a Uganda safari. Upon arrival, spend time in the lodge unwinding and getting ready to meet the world’s most amazing mountain gorillas in their natural home, where you have set foot. We will have an early breakfast and head straight to the headquarters of the park for briefing,, after which we will enter to the thick misty forest for mountain gorilla trekking, with no marked foot path, you have to make your way through the thick, hiking high up into the hills search for the location of the gorillas, we cannot be sure how long we will have to trek to find them, so we will keep going until we find them, and when found, we will spend an hour observing these great apes with deep awe their powerful presence in the untouched ground is thrilling and humbling, imagine standing few meters with the gorillas, you can smell them, hear them mumble, watch them live, watch their walk strokes, see beauty in their eyes, meet another family so close to humans but in the wild, it’s a heart-pounding, soul-stirring moment with Uganda’s mountain gorillas. It’s a fulfilling moment, at the elapse of the one hour, we will trek out of the forest through the thick leaving the gorillas behind, with heart melting experience, this good bye is one that you rather not make, the photos you take are what gives you comfort that you will always look at them and remember the feeling of the moment return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight at Gorilla Forest Lodge. With a pack of memories created on the Ugandan safari, today, after breakfast, we will head on to Rwanda, the land of gently sloping hills with a picturesque view from Bwindi. Volcanoes National Park is in the same Virunga region, characterized by volcanic ranges shared between Uganda, Rwanda, and the DR Congo; the landscape is a great marvel. We will cross the border to Rwanda via the Cyanika border for immigration procedures and proceed to Lake Burera and Ruhondo for a scenic boat ride then head into the Volcanoes National Park, a second home to the mountain gorilla, we will check into One & Only Gorilla’s Nest, which is more than just, you will be spending two night at the soul of forest’s crest. Today is a magical day unfolding by every second, first we have to take breakfast, you need the energy for the gorilla trekking challenge, then we assemble at the park headquarters for briefing, a private ranger will be assigned to your group, Now time to set foot in the muddy and natural misty forest where Diana Fossey called gorillas in the mist and spent most her life caring for the gorillas, you are now walking in her footsteps in search for the mountain gorillas, depending on their location you can hike high up to where they are feeding or going about with their lives. Boom you are faces to face with the giant apes the mountain gorillas, you will witness their strong family bond, to the gorillas, family is all they have Diana Fossey was true what she said about them “you take these fine, regal animals. How many human fathers have the some sense of paternity? How many human mothers are more caring? The family structure is unbelievably strong”. We will spend 1 hour with the gorillas, probably learning more lessons from these rare apes, observing the rules and appropriate behavior while before the gorillas for s better experience, taking as many photos as possible. After our one-hour encounter with the mountain gorillas, trek out of the mist forest and proceed to the Lodge.
Optional Activities:
You could opt for Golden monkey tracking instead; these beautiful monkeys are found only in Volcanoes and Mgahinga National Park in Uganda. The hike is pretty much the same, but at least more predictable than the mountain gorilla tracking.
You could choose to hike to Diana Fossey’s grave and visit her museum and research institute to learn more about her work. We will stay another night at One and Only Gorilla’s Nest. FB
On our last day of this great exploration with many captured life-changing moments, we will have breakfast and drive through the rolling hills to Kigali, Rwanda’s Capital, stunningly situated on the hills. We will visit the Genocide Memorial Center to learn of the country’s You will leave this place with a renewed heart of love for everyone, regardless of their ethnicity. Visit local artisan markets before your private airport transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home. Ending our safari with Queen safaris.
