Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – A Queen’s Welcome

Upon landing at Entebbe International Airport, we will welcome you, meet ad greet with your private driver-guide and be transferred to your luxurious hotel for rest, rejuvenation, and a welcome toast to the journey ahead.
Marriott Protea Hotel Entebbe is located just 1 kilometer from Entebbe International Airport, Uganda’s main gateway, and directly opposite the old terminal of Entebbe International Airport,  which played a pivotal role in historical events, including the famous Operation Entebbe (1976)—a daring hostage rescue mission by Israeli commandos. The Hotel holds a unique place  for its historical proximity to the old Entebbe Airport, a site rich with national and international significance.
Protea Hotel sits right at the shores of Lake Victoria, the world’s largest tropical Lake and second to Lake Superior as the largest freshwater lake by area. It is best preferred for its luxury and lakeside charm.

After breakfast, head north of Uganda to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the southern white Rhinos. The Rhino tracking is special and interesting as its done on foot, a good way to encounter the gentle giants grazing and roaming freeing in the wild. Ziwa was established to reintroduce rhinos to Uganda, black rhinos and northern white rhino once lived in Murchison Falls National Park, but were poached to extinction by 1982 during Uganda’s dark times.  
Lunch will be served at ziwa then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park on a scenic drive arriving at your lodge in time for a sunset and dinner overlooking the Nile.

We will enjoy an early game drive in search of lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes (highly populated in this park) and easily seen in the nothern plains of pakuba; Antelopes, mostly seen are the Uganda Kob – The national symbol of Uganda (often seen in mating grounds and grassy plains), Jackson’s Hartebeest, Oribi, Defassa Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Grey Duiker, and Bohor Reedbuck, warthogs and more.  Murchison Falls National park is a treasure place of wildlife and raw beauty of the powerful Murchison falls. We will return to the lodge for lunch close to the Nile as we wait for an afternoon expedition.
We will take an afternoon bottom cruise on the Nile to the base of the powerful Murchison Falls, for a chance to feel the thunder of Uganda’s most powerful and cascading falls up close, and see the rainbow that hovers above the Devil’s Cauldron. As you sail on the Nile, you will encounter the abundant Hippos, their grunts, the Nile Crocodiles Lurking along the riverbanks, especially near the base of the falls. We will as well see lots of birds such as the Giant kingfisher, African fish eagle, grey crowned crane, and malachite kingfisher. After a moment at the bottom of the falls, Cap the day with a guided hike/drive to the top of the falls for yet another experience.

The Top of the Falls is where the Nile carves its passion and a furious, breathtakingly plunge through a narrow gorge, to make the powerful and roaring Murchison Falls at the bottom. You will feel the cool spray of mist on your skin as you approach this site, take photos as much as you can.
The Nile flowing through the heart of the Murchison Falls national park, makes it one of the top and most beautiful national parks in Uganda. For its beauty the park has been visited by many, from Winston Churchill, John Hanning Speke & James Grant, Sir Samuel Baker & Florence Baker and many more, were all captivated by the park’s beauty, has was one of the sites for the famous Africa Queen. Murchison falls National park is one of those places that are meant to be felt, not just seen.

With such an intense experience, we will return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

After our morning breakfast, let’s travel to the south western part of Uganda to Kibale Forest National Park the primate capital of the world, hosting the highest concentration of primates in Africa, and a dream destination for chimpanzee tracking safaris. The journey will take you through local communities, the tea plantations and great scenery, upon arrival in the park, head to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the afternoon you may take a walk to the craters for scenic viewing and sightseeing.

Chimpundu Lodge, nestled at the starting porting point for chimpanzee tracking in the heart  of Kibale Forest National Park; the lodge is an iconic importance as a sanctuary of luxury, and an immersion in Uganda’s primate heartland.

We will have an early breakfast to be on time for the tracking exercise. We start with reporting at the park headquarter for briefing, with your private ranger you will start to track wild chimpanzees in their natural habitat — a rare and thrilling encounter. You will walk through the forest to meet our closest cousin, their gaze is so intimate and reminds us just how much we are close to these great primates, from the way they feed, behave with each other, to how they care for their little ones, is so much like humans. After spending an hour with the chimpanzees, its time to walk back with great memories.
Alternative: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX): instead of the standard chimpanzee trekking that gives you an allowance of hour with the chimpanzees, you can opt for a deeper and more fulfilling experience where you get to more hours with semi-habituated chimps, witnessing their raw behaviors, CHEX costs a little more than  the ordinary chimp trekking.

Later, visit Bigodi wetland sanctuary for a 3 hour nature walk likely to see the birds the great blue turacos, monkeys such as Red-tailed monkeys,Black-and-white colobus, L’Hoest’s monkeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, and encounter the local community, the walk will expose you to local farms, local people.

Enjoy a leisurely drive through the Rwenzori foothills and picturesque crater lakes en route to Queen Elizabeth National Park one of Uganda’s top most visited parks. Its dotted with great landscapes from the craters, the Kyambura gorge, to the lakes and the Kazinga channel, hosting a good number of mammals such as elephants, lions, leopards, hippos, chimpanzees and the unique tree climbing lions in the ishasha sector, plus over 600 birds species all that can be seen when exploring the park.
Visit the crater lakes region for sightseeing of great scenery, after proceed to the the lodge, settle into your lodge enjoying breathtaking views.

Mweya Safari Lodge: One of Uganda’s most iconic and oldest safari lodges established during the colonial era and has since been visited by early explorers such as Henry Morton Stanley, dignitaries such as Her majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Perched atop the Mweya peninsular overlooking the Kazinga channel which links Lake Edward and Lake George. The lodge offers great panoramic views of the park and great landscapes.
The location of the lodge allows wild visitors such as warthogs, buffaloes, hippos, to visit the lodge during day and night, elephants and lions too can be spotted from the lodge’s decks.

Start with a sunrise game drive across the Kasenyi Plains best for seeing lions, Uganda kobs, elephants and buffaloes, this morning game drive offers close encounters with the wildlife across beautiful landscapes

In the afternoon, enjoy a 2hour guided private boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George, with the biggest population of hippos,  crocodiles, water-bucks, and vibrant wildlife such as fish eagles, kingfishers, pelicans and lots more. The boat cruise offers up-close views of the animals such as elephants and buffaloes spotted at the bank of the channel. After return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Drive through the remote Ishasha Sector, home to Uganda’s famous tree-climbing lions, explore the area in search of tree climbing lions, and other animals. Later continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, arriving in time for a Batwa community experience with dancing and storytelling. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Gorilla Forest Lodge is a luxury lodge located inside Bwindi National Park, a 5 minutes walk to the park headquarters, the starting point for gorilla trekking. occasionally mountain gorilla visit the lodge and wander through the lodge grounds, offering spontaneous and magical encounters

Rise early for breakfast, then we go to the park headquarters for briefing. Embark on an unforgettable experience – the mountain gorilla trekking, you will trek thought the thick forest in search of the mountain gorillas in the wild, the trek can take 2-8 hours including the trekking time and the one hour encounter with the mountain gorillas. You will have a chance to observe, watch and listen to the gorillas, during this time you will have awe moments standing few meters up-close the gorillas, where you can see, them, hear them and stand face to face. After a moment with the gorillas, we will trek back to the end point.
Bwindi Impenetrable National park is home to half of worlds remaining mountain gorillas, where some of the gorilla families have been habituated to visitors a chance to encounter these awesome giants in their wild in the mist. After a magical hour with a gorillas, we will return to the for lunch before transferring to Lake Mburo, a peaceful Savannah park perfect for winding down.
